Job Description:
The role of this position is to provide human resource planning and guidance to the Tourism Industry on Prince Edward Island. Drawing upon their knowledge of the hospitality industry and Human Resource education and experience, this individual will work with tourism operators and the tourism industry to assist with Human Resource needs. Reporting directly to the Director of HR, Training and Education, this position will be responsible for the following:


  • Coordinate and deliver Human Resource services to tourism operators
  • Consult and provide guidance to tourism operators on Human Resource issues, processes and services
  • Coordinate and promote workshops/seminars to meet the Human Resource needs of the industry
  • Promotion and sales of emerit products and services
  • Research and identify Human Resources Best Practices
  • Develop templates for Human Resource activities (i.e. job descriptions, performance evaluations, etc.)
  • Participate in Tourism HR Canada meetings
  • Conduct basic research as required
  • Maintain and promote website and social media
  • Promote career opportunities in the tourism industry
  • Deliver career presentations
  • Design, coordinate and buy advertisement to promote career opportunities in tourism
  • Write articles for publication and develop newsletters
  • Develop data base and compile data
  • Coordinate projects, set priorities, meet deadlines and follow up on assignments with minimal direction
  • Maintain positive employee relations and serve as a role model by setting a personal example of service excellence.
  • Fulfill their own clerical functions including data entry, word processing, filing, photocopying, and electronic correspondence.
  • Coordinate, plan, promote employment mixers (mini job fairs)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Statement of Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of human resources theories and principles
  • Strong analytical skills required to interpret and evaluate client’s requirements
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • A high level of multi-tasking skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of the tourism industry
  • Previous practical experience in Human Resources an asset
  • Experience in website maintenance and social media

Education Level:
Applicants require successful completion of a relevant post-secondary degree combined with demonstrated experience in the area of Human Resources. Candidates possessing a recognized Human Resources Management Diploma or Certificate and considerable directly related work Experience will also be considered.
