TIAPEI response to growing concerns regarding COVID-19

Following the recent events unfolding on the World stage surrounding the COVID-19 virus and this week’s announcement of the first confirmed presumptive case in New Brunswick, the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI) wants to assure members of PEI’s tourism industry that we are working in close coordination with the province, Federal partners and other tourism associations in Canada to monitor events as they unfold.  

The Canadian Government has announced a $1-billion fund to support the domestic and global response to COVID-19 and the Province of PEI is working diligently to keep all Islanders safe and informed.
 
TIAPEI will continue to monitor the situation and its impact on tourism and would like to hear from industry members about your concerns.
 
TIAPEI CEO Kevin Mouflier states “Our number one concern is the health and safety of our tourism operators, their employees and visitors to Prince Edward Island. We recognize all industries on PEI, including tourism, will be impacted by COVID – 19 and we are working closely with a working group comprised of representatives from Tourism PEI and invested stakeholders to monitor and, hopefully, mitigate any lasting negative impacts to our valued industry. I strongly urge all members of the tourism industry to ensure both you and your employees are well informed with the most up to date information and practice all recommended health and safety precautions issued by the Public Health Agency of Canada and Health PEI.”
