Tourist Accommodation Competition – Prince Edward Island Rural Beautification Society
The PEI Rural Beautification Society is hosting its Tourist Accommodation Competition once again. TIAPEI is pleased to support this by sponsoring the first place prize this year.

There are many beautiful tourist accommodations on PEI and we feel it is very important to recognize and highlight the owners/operators for their efforts in maintaining their properties.
We encourage you to enter!
Provincial Prizes:
First prize – $300.00
Second prize – $200.00
Third prize – $100.00
ELIGIBILITY
The Tourist Accommodation Competition is open to any tourist accommodation such as, but not limited to: Hotels, Motels,
Cottages, and B&B’s. Judges will evaluate the overall appearance of the property, including the criteria noted below. The tourist accommodation must be in Rural PEI (excluding Charlottetown & Summerside).
Judging will commence after September 01, 2022.
Entry deadline – June 30, 2022.
The First Prize winner will also receive the Rural Beautification Society Award for the “Tourist Accommodation
of the Year”, sponsored by TIAPEI (Tourism Industry Association of PEI).
Criteria for judging based on the following Scoring system:
General appearance/curb appeal of the property – 350 points
Attractiveness of the main & additional exterior structures – 250 points
Parking area, identification, signage, lighting – 150 points
Planting of/or preservation of existing trees, shrubs, etc. – 200 points
Lawn construction and maintenance – 100 points
Flowers, both annual and perennial, display and maintenance care – 200 points
Fencing, either decorative and/ or privacy – 100 points
Free of litter on highway frontage, with grass trimmed – 100 points
Flag flying – 50 points
Total Possible Points 1500 points
