In the 1980’s, TIAPEI made the decision to co-sponsor a scholarship program for Island students who were planning a career in the tourism field. Funds from Industry members established this fund and each year applications have been received, reviewed and scholarships awarded. Applicants must be enrolled full time in a recognized college or university tourism/hospitality program, have previously work experience in the tourism industry and have an average of 75% or higher in their last year of school. Scholarships can be renewed for a second year, provided criteria are met by the applicants. Scholarship recipients must attempt to find employment in PEI in the hospitality industry for a period of two years following graduation.
The tourism/hospitality industry scholarship of $1000.00 is available to residents of Prince Edward Island enrolled at an educational institute on or off Island. This scholarship is financed by members of the Tourism Industry Association of PEI.
The objective of the tourism/hospitality industry scholarship is to attract additional professional workers to Prince Edward Island’s tourism industry.
