Infrastructure Work Update – MacKenzies Brook in Cavendish
Prince Edward Island National Park
Charlottetown, PEI, July 6, 2020 – Parks Canada would like to inform the public that infrastructure work will resume July 3 at MacKenzies Brook in PEI National Park. MacKenzies Brook passes beneath the Gulf Shore Parkway and the Gulf Shore Way trail between Cavendish and North Rustico.
The travelling public may experience occasional delays and one lane closures as work progresses. Signage will be erected on roadsides for visitor safety.
Some of the remaining work at this site includes placing armour stone on the coast, enlarging the parking lot, re-paving affected areas of the Gulf Shore Way multi-use trail, placing a seal coat of asphalt on the road in the construction zone, fabricating and installing galvanized steel beach stairs and safety railings, and landscaping. Work is slated to continue until Fall 2020.
This infrastructure work is part of the largest federal infrastructure plan in the history of Parks Canada. Investments in visitor infrastructure-such as trails, visitor centres and campgrounds, as well as highways and bridges- will ensure the quality and reliability of visitor facilities and continue to allow Canadians to connect with nature in a meaningful way all across the country.
Parks Canada will continue to provide updates on this project as work progresses. For more information, please contact Prince Edward Island National Park at 902-672-6350, or by email at pc.infopnipe-peinpinfo.pc@canada.ca.
